Today's National Weather Service Weather Story
Late Morning Ohio Weather StoryNational Weather Service, Cleveland Ohio
1047 am est thu mar 11 2010
Skies were partly cloudy to mostly clear overnight and a warm front
was draped over southwest Ohio. Evening temperatures were mild and
were in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Areas of clearing allowed
temperatures across east central Ohio in particular to drop into the
mid 30s. This also allowed some areas of fog to develop.
Toledo...mount vernon...new philadelphia...and zanesville all had a
period of fog overnight.
By sunrise additional cloud cover and showers were encroaching on
the state from the southwest...circulating around a large low
pressure system across iowa. Some rumbles of thunder may also be
heard across western Ohio this afternoon and evening as this next
round of showers moves across the state.
Each round of showers will last a little longer and be a little
heavier than the previous round going into the weekend. A
heightened awareness will be needed for potential
flooding...especially across Northern and eastern Ohio with
additional runoff from snowmelt.
Temperatures will warm today into the 60s statewide. The best chance
for showers this afternoon will be across western Ohio...but that
threat will spread across the rest of the state tonight. Lows
tonight will continue to be mild and only drop back into the upper
40s and lower 50s.
This slow moving weather system will still plague the forecast
through the weekend. Showers will stick in the forecast and
temperatures will be mild. This system will finally start to pull
away toward Monday.
