Today's National Weather Service Weather Story
Late evening Ohio weather storyNational Weather Service, Wilmington Ohio
1046 pm edt sat jul 31 2010
Several weak disturbances moved across the state today and provided
the focus for scattered showers along with a few thunderstorms. The
showers were largely concentrated across central portions of the
state...with the northeast and far southwest not receiving much if
any rainfall. During the day most areas picked up a quarter of an
inch of rain or less as most of the showers were lighter in nature.
Extensive cloud cover statewide held temperatures down...with highs
ranging from the upper 70s to lower 80s. These temperatures are
generally a few degrees below normal for this time of year.
A few clusters of heavier showers and thunderstorms developed during
the early evening hours and a narrow swath of large rainfall totals
resulted. Both wilmington and wright brothers airport in Dayton
received over an inch of rain. By 10 pm...only a few scattered
showers remained...mainly over southern portions of the state.
Temperatures fell into the upper 60s to lower 70s. A few showers may
linger overnight but otherwise partly to mostly cloudy skies will
persist. There will be the possibility of patchy fog...especially in
areas which received rain. Lows will be in the lower to mid 60s.
For Sunday...a few showers or thunderstorms may develop over the far
northeast. Otherwise high pressure will begin to ridge across the
region and provide dry weather. Highs will be in the 80s across the
state...with the warmest readings across the south and west. Dry
weather and warmer temperatures will continue into Monday. After
overnight lows in the mid 60s...daytime highs will climb into the
upper 80s to near 90.
