Cooler, Dryer Weather for Sunday

Hot and humid conditions for Saturday with heat indices reaching 100 to 104 degrees. A cold front will bring thunderstorms later in the day with cooler temperatures for Sunday.

Hot and muggy weather conditions will once again linger over Stark County for Saturday. A cold front will bring the possibility of some strong to severe thunderstorms tonight along with cooler and dryer air for Sunday.

Hot and humid weather will once again settle in over Stark County communities for Saturday and heat advisories are in effect for most of Ohio.

The National Weather Service is calling for temperatures in the mid to upper 90s over all of Northeast Ohio for today. The warm temperatures, together with a humid air mass will make the temperatures feel like 100 to 104 degrees Saturday afternoon and evening.

A cold front will move in over the state today and tonight bringing the threat of thunderstorms to the region this afternoon and evening. Some of the storms could become quite strong to severe with damaging winds and hail. The Storm Prediction Center has placed Northeast Ohio under a slight risk for severe weather for today and tonight.

The front will bring cooler and dryer air to the county on Sunday with temperatures about 10 degrees cooler. Much dryer air will also accompany the frontal passage reducing the mugginess factor considerably. Sunday’s highs will be in the mid to upper 80s over Stark County.

Those with outdoor activities today should take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses and drink plenty of water. Those most susceptible to excessive heat, including the very young and the elderly, should remain in air conditioned areas if possible.

Those outdoors today should also keep an eye to the sky for developing severe weather - especially this afternoon and evening and be prepared to take shelter should severe thunderstorms move in over the area. Thunderstorms will be accompanied by frequent lightning and strong winds.
