Long-range winter forecaster predicts less snow and rain but below normal temperatures for 2009 - 20010 Northeast Ohio winter
Winter in northeast Ohio will be much colder than normal this winter, according to AccuWeather.com’s chief weather forecaster Joe Bastardi.
While the temperatures will average below normal, snowfall and liquid precipitation totals in Ohio should remain normal or below normal for the season.
The harshist winter conditions will occur from southern New England, through the Appalachians and mid-Atlantic states. This includes an area from Washington D.C. to Charlotte, NC where folks have seen little snowfall in the past few winters. That area could get lots more snow this year according to Bastardi.
“Areas from Atlanta to Charlotte could have several snow storms this year, which is something that this region has not seen in a while”, said Bastardi in his forecast.
By the same token, the Midwest and central Plains could get a break this year with below-normal snowfall.
According to Bastardi, the fading El Nino will play a big role in developing winter weather in the southern and eastern U.S.
