TODAY'S WEATHER STORY

Late evening Ohio weather story
national weather service wilmington oh
1147 pm edt tue sep 7 2010

A cold front began to push east across the state during the late
afternoon and evening hours. Out ahead of the front...southwesterly
winds pumped warm and moist air into Stark County today. High
temperatures were in the lower to mid 90s in many locations...with
some upper 80s across the north. Scattered showers and thunderstorms
developed as the front interacted with the airmass in place over the
state. There were numerous reports of trees down and wind
damage...along with some reports of large hail. The storms were fast
movers...which meant most areas received less than a half inch of
rain.

The front will move to the east overnight...with skies quickly
clearing as the rain exits. Overnight lows will fall into the mid
50s. A dry and cool airmass will overspread the region for Wednesday
and Thursday as high pressure builds in from the northwest. High
temperatures both days will range from the lower 70s north to upper
70s south. Lows Thursday morning will be in the mid to upper 40s.
